Dental implants
A dental implant is a dental prosthesis used to replace a tooth that has been lost. Normally made of titanium. They are the most efficient solution nowadays because they offer the stability, resistance, durability, appearance and sensation of natural teeth. They also require minimal maintenance.
More than one dental implant can serve as an anchor for a bridge or partial prosthesis. Four or more dental implants are used to anchor a complete dental arch to replace all the teeth in a jaw.
Dental implants are inserted into the jaw with minor surgery. After insertion, the patient should normally wait for the dental implant to merge with the bone, becoming part of it. This is the reason why dental implants are as strong and stable as natural teeth. The process lasts between 3 to 6 months, which means that patients return to Costa Rica to complete the procedure.
Once the osseointegration is done, the patient returns and the dentist fixes a pillar on the upper part of the implant. A crown or other prosthesis will then be attached to the abutment.
At Drs. Parra Dental Center we use premium implants from Zimmer Biomet Center and Implant Direct.
